Tassel

I have been making small tassels to sew on the bottom of pouches that I make. This gave me the idea to try my hand at doing a PSP tassel. This is a very easy tutorial, even for beginners.

#1 -- Open a NEW image 200X300, transparent background.

#2 -- Click on your Tube Tool and in the drop down window, go to Artistic Tubes and locate the Rope Tube with the scale of 40.

#3 -- Make some lines going up AND down. Keep the bottom fairly even and the top in a rounded, cone shape. Keep adding lines until it looks nice and full.

NOTE: You will notice the when you go UP the rope is darker, this is good as it will add depth and shading to your tassel.

#4 -- Open a NEW image 100X100. Using the Rope tube, change the size to 60. Completely fill this with rope strands. Remember to go up AND down.

#5 -- Go to Effects/Geometric Effects/Circle, transparent CHECKED.

#6 -- Edit/Copy. Then click on the tassel image Edit/Paste as a NEW layer. Using the Mover Tool, move the ball on TOP of the tassel.

#7 -- Your ball will be too large, so use the Deformation Tool to resize it. You can even make your ball slightly elongated if you like it that way.

#7 -- Merge/Merge Visible. Move your tassel to the left of your canvas.

#8 -- Add a NEW Raster layer. Using the Rope Tube size 40, draw a cord where the ball meets the tassel. Then from the top of the ball, draw the hanging cord. If you do not like how the cord looks, you can hit UNdo, and redraw it. Merge/ Merge Visible.

#9 -- If you want different colored tassels, you can go to Adjust/Colorize or use the Fue/Saturation/Lightness. You can make a rainbow of colored tassels.

#10 -- If you want to Export your tassel as a tube, but do not want the cord on it, then remove the cord. Then Export as a Tube for later use.
