Selections Cat
I have written tutorials for Pixels, Vectors, hand-drawn, Instructional, but have
shyed away from Selections. I enjoy doing Selections, but could never figure out just
how to make them. Well, through perserverance and the wanting to learn new things,
I did it!! This is my very first Selections tutorial, so please bear with me.
You will need my Cat selections file, click HERE.
OPEN and Save to
C:/Documents and Settings/My Documents/My PSP Files/Selections
and
name a folder so that you will remember where you saved it.
#1
Open a new canvas 150X180. REMEMBER to SAVE often. I have learned to
save after every step/layer. This way, if your program locks up, you will not
have
to start from scratch, just your last saved place.
#2
Choose what colors you would like to use for your cat.
For my foreground color, I chose a dark brown, #786434,
and for my background color, I chose a light brown, #d6ba78.
#3
Go to Selections/Load-Save Selections/Load Selection from Disk and
locate the folder where you saved the cat selections. Locate and select
the TAIL and click LOAD. You will now have Marching Ants on your canvas.
#4
Click on the Flood Fill Tool and fill with the dark brown. Selections/Float.
Image/3D/Cutout and use these settings; Vertical and Horizontal 1,
Opacity 100, Blur 15 and Shadow Color BLACK. Select NONE.
NOTE: From here on, I will just say FLOAT and CUTOUT
when refering to the above steps.
#5
Go to Selections/Load-Save Selections/Load Selection from Disk
and
locate the RIGHT LEG and click LOAD.
#6
Flood Fill with the DARK BROWN, FLOAT and use the CUTOUT
using the SAME settings as above. Select NONE.
#7
You will now be using the SAME steps above;
FLOOD FILL, FLOAT, CUTOUT & SELECT NONE.
Locate and repeat EACH step for these sections; the RIGHT
FRONT LEG, LEFT FRONT LEG, RIGHT HAUNCH, HEAD & RIGHT EAR.
You should now have something like this.
#8
Now, locate the CHEST selection, FLOOD FILL with the background color.
FLOAT, CUTOUT, use the SAME settings, but change the SHADOW COLOR to
a darker shade of your background color, I am using BLACK. Select NONE.
#9
locate the CHEEK selection, FLOOD FILL with the background color.
FLOAT, CUTOUT, use the SAME settings as above. Select NONE.
#10
Locate the EYES selection. ZOOM in to make the area larger and easier
to see.
Flood Fill the lower section with BLACK. Select NONE.
#11 Locate the EYES2 selection. Flood Fill with WHITE.
Select NONE.
#12
Locate the NOSE selection. Flood Fill with BLACK.
Select NONE.
#13
Now for the final touch. Make a NEW Raster layer. With the
Paintbrush tool, size 2, foreground color BLACK, draw in a mouth
for the cat. See my image below for placement.
Select NONE.
Now you can EXPORT and save as a tube.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
