Christmas time we have silver bells dangling from a ring hanging
from our door knob. Other times I have shaped sachets hanging, or
small, stuffed animals made from felt. And they ALL have bells, lots
and lots of bells. Can you tell that I love bells...:) These are
what gave me the idea for this tutorial.
This is another simple tutorial. No fancy plug-ins,
no filters, just patterns, tubes and presets.
#1 -- Open a NEW image 200X200, transparent background.
#2 -- Click on your Preset Shapes Tool
and then in the
Drop Down Box, locate Heart1, that will be a solid black heart.
#3 -- Now look through your Patterns and find something that
you like. This I will leave up to you. Make your background
materials pallet your pattern, Angle 0. The scale will depend
largely on what pattern you choose, this you will need to play with.
Some of my patterns I scaled to 25, others to 50,
and yet others I left at 100.
#4 -- You can make your foreground a contrasting color (taken
from your pattern) or make it NULL. I am using "Plaid orange-green"
for my background, scale 100, and my foregound is NULL.
#5 -- Using the Preset Shapes Tool, make a heart in the
lower left of your canvas.
#6 -- Selections/Select ALL. Selections/Float.
#7 -- I want my heart to have a rounded, puffy look, so I am
going to add an Inner Bevel.Use these settings. Select NONE.
#8 -- DUPLICATE and using the Mover Tool, move this heart up
and to the right of the first heart.
#9 -- Click on your Tubes Tool and locate the ROPE tube. It
will be in the Artistic Tubes section and will look like 3 gold
balls.
Click on it as we will use this to make our cord.
Use these settings for the Rope Tube.
#10 -- Add a NEW Raster layer. Hold down the left mouse button
to draw your cord. Go from the center of the left heart up and then
down to the center of the right heart. If you make an error, just
go to Edit/UNdo picture tube. Doesn't that UNDO feature come in handy?
#11 -- When you are happy with how your cord looks,
right click
on the layer. Then Arrange/Send to Bottom.
#12 -- Merge/Merge Visible. Crop and Export as a tube to be used later.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
