Pixel Blue Bird

This is my first tutorial using PSP XI.
But it can be done in PSP8 and PSP9.

A very special thanks to Wian, from GraphiX, for kicking
my butt into gear and getting me enthused about this version of psp.

Open a NEW image 100X100.
Use the color charts below to draw your blue bird
in pixels. I have color coded the chart to
make it easier to count the pixels.

#1 Zoom your canvas to 500% or 800% so that it will
be easier for you to see to paint the pixels.

#2 When you have your Blue Bird drawn, save as a .pspimage.

#3 Click on your Paintbrush, and using a dark orange, #e56001,
color in the pixels of the BEAK and FEET.

#4 Change your foreground to a lighter shade of blue, I used #0000ff.
With your Magic Wand, Tolerance 0 and Contiguous CHECKED, click INSIDE
the HEAD. Add a NEW Raster layer. Flood Fill with the blue.

#5 Selections/Float. Effects/3D/Cutout
and use the settings below......

Repeat the Cutout changing the Vertical and Horizontal to -3 (MINUS 3).
Select NONE.

#6 Click on the OUTLINE layer. With the Magic Wand, click
INSIDE the TAIL. Add a NEW Raster layer and Flood Fill with
the blue. Selections/Float. Effects/3D/Cutout and change the
Vertical and Horizontal to -3 (MINUS 3). Select NONE.

#7 Click on the OUTLINE layer. With the Magic Wand, click
INSIDE the BODY. Add a NEW Raster layer and Flood Fill with
the blue. Selections/Float. Effects/3D/Cutout and use the
setting in #5 above. Repeat the Cutout changing the Vertical
and Horizontal to -3 (MINUS 3). Select NONE.

#8 Merge/Merge Visible.

#9 With the Magic Wand, click INSIDE the BEAK. Change the
foreground color to a lighter shade of the Dark Orange, I am
using #e49b00, and Flood Fill the BEAK.

#10 Selections/Float. Effects/3D/Cutout and use the
setting below. Select NONE.

#11 With the Magic Wand, and holding down the SHIFT key,
click INSIDE each of the FEET. You might need to ZOOM in to
see the spaces. Flood Fill the FEET with the light orange.

#12 Selections/Float. Effects/3D/Cutout and use the
SAME settings above Select NONE.

#13 Click on your Preset Shapes Tool and select the Ellipse shape.
Change your foreground color to WHITE and your background color to BLACK.
Add a NEW Raster layer. With the Preset Shape Tool set to size 1, make
a small oval for the EYE. Use the Mover Tool to position it where you want it.

#14 Merge/Merge Visible. Crop and Export as a Tube for later use.
