Easy Wall Shelf
Here is a simple wall shelf, sometimes used as a coat rack in some homes. #1 You will need a wood pattern for this tutorial. Set your foreground to NULL and your background to the wood pattern, Angle 90 and Scale 100. #2 Open a New image, 300X300 (you will have room to work with), transparent. With your Selection Tool, rectangle (Vector and Anti-alias both UNchecked), make a rectangle across the center of your canvas. Leaving room on both sides. Name this layer BACK. #3 Add a NEW Raster layer, name this TOP. Make another narrower rectangle across the top of your last one, extending it over the sides a bit. Use the grey/white squares on your background for placement if necessary. Go to Effects/3D/Drop Shadow and use the following settings (From now on, throughtout this tutorial, I will just say Drop Shadow).
#4 Add a NEW Raster layer, name this SIDES. Make another narrower rectangle down the right side of your back section, just below the top section. Add a Drop Shadow and change the Vertical to 1 and the Horizontal to 0. Drag this layer BELOW the TOP layer #5 Duplicate this SIDE layer. Image/MIRROR. Use the Mover Tool and move this new side piece into place. Merge/Merge Down.
#6 Add a NEW Raster layer. With the Preset Shapes Tool, locate the Elipse. Make a small circle (You can do this on the black canvas so that you can see it better). Selections/Select All. Selections/Float. Go to Effects/3D/Drop Shadow and use the following settings.
#7 With the Mover Tool, position the knob in the center of your BACK section. Duplicate two times ( a total of three knobs) and place one on each side.
NOTE: You can also make the knobs a solid color and smaller. Then you could have five knobs on your shelf. #8 Merge/Merge Visible. Crop and EXPORT as a tube. This is all there is. Just a simple, non-fancy shelf. You can add items to it as you wish.
