Table Lamp
We have three types of table/pole lamps in our home. One is a bookcase table lamp that was my husbands before we met, the other two are pole lamps that we bought to go by my computer table and by where I do my embroidery. This gave me the idea to make them into tutorials. #1 Open a new image 300X300. This will give you extra room to work with, and we will be croping the size when we are finished. Save this as a .pspimage and name it TABLE-LAMP. #2 Choose a color that you would like for the lamp shade, I am using #efebad, and make this your background color. Choose a wood pattern for your foreground. We will be working with layers, so SAVE ofen. #3 With your foreground NULL and your background your color choice, click on the Preset Shapes Tool and locate the Triangle and using the settings below (making sure Create as Vector is CHECKED), make a rectangle towards the top of your canvas.
#4 Holding down the CONTROL key, move your curser over the upper right Node and move it towards the left to angle your rectangle.
Click on the Vector layer and Convert to Raster. SAVE. #5 At this point you can add Texture to your lamp shade. Play with your Effects/Textures to find what you like. I used the Gause3 texture. Then Selections/Select all ---- Selections/Float and add the Cutout using the settings below. Be sure to change the Shadow Color to a darker shade than you used. Selections/Select NONE. SAVE.
#6 Keeping your foreground NULL, make your background the wood pattern. Again using the Preset shapes Tool, keeping it on Rectangle, make a long, narrow rectangle down the center of your canvas. Click on the Vector layer and Convert to Raster. Effects/3D/Inner bevel and use the settings below. Right click on this layer, Arrange/Send to Bottom.
#7 Again using the Preset shapes Tool, locate the ROUNDED RECTANGLE, make a long, narrow rectangle across the bottom of your pole. Click on the Vector layer and Convert to Raster. Then Selections/Select all ---- Selections/Float and add the Cutout as above, but change the Vertical & Horizontal to 1, the Blur to 5 and change the color to BLACK. Selections/Select NONE. SAVE.
#8 Duplicate the base layer and with the Mover Tool, move it about 2/3 the way up. See Image 2 above. Go to Image/Resize, use 75%, BICUBIC and make sure that Resize all layers is UNchecked.
That is all there is to it. Now you can CROP it, resize it, Merge/Merge Visible and Export it as a tube. You can now decorate it as you wish.
