Fill-in Kitty
This is going to be an easy tutorial, as you are just going to be filling in with color and making your kitty come to life. Right click on my Kitty image below, and save it to a folder of your choice..
#1 Pick a light color for your foreground and a dark color for your background. This is your kitty, so use the colors of your choice. I am using a medium grey #766e6e and a dark grey #404040. #2 Locate where you saved the Kitty image and open it. Zoom in so that you can see the outlines, I zoomed to 300%. Right click on the Background layer and Promote Background Layer. #3 With your Magic Wand, Tolerance 0, Mode Replace, Anti-alias CHECKED, HOLD DOWN the Shift key and click all the white areas. Then click the DELETE key. All the white areas will vanish. Do not forget the upper right corner by the tail or the sections by the front legs. Select NONE. Name this OUTLINE.
#4 Using your Magic Wand, use the following settings....
#5 Click inside the body area. Add a NEW Raster layer, name this BODY, and then Flood Fill with your light color. Go to Selections/Float. Then Effects/3D/Cutout and use these setting..... ![]() Selections/Select None. NOTE: I am using black as my Shadow Color, but you can use a darker shade of your dark color. And from now on, I will just say CUTOUT and you will use the same settings unless otherwise stated. #6 Click on the OUTLINE layer, With the Magic Wand, SAME settings, click inside the HEAD. Add a NEW Raster layer, naming it HEAD, and Flood Fill this with your light color. KEEP selected. #7 Selections/Float, then CUTOUT using the SAME setting. Select NONE. #8 Clicking the OUTLINE layer and using the Magic Wand, SAME settings, click inside the HIND LEG sections (left & right of the HEAD). Add a NEW Raster layer, naming it HIND LEGS. Flood Fill with your light color. Selections/Float then CUTOUT. Select NONE. This is what you should have so far....
#9 Click on the OUTLINE layer, With the Magic Wand, SAME settings, click inside the front legs. Add a NEW Raster layer, naming it FRONT LEGS, and Flood Fill this with your light color.
