Ladybug
Growing up in Michigan, I remember laying on fresh cut grass and playing with Ladybugs on lazy, summer days. Here is my recreation of the tiny, delicate Ladybug. This is my own creation and any resemblance to any other tutorial is strictly coincidental.
The Ladybug will be yours to use as you wish for tubes, sigs or in other images as long as they are for non-prophet. If you want to use it for monetary gain, please contact me for permission.
I am using PSP v9, but I am sure you can do this in v7 and v8. There are no filters or effects, just the Paint Brush and Flood Fill. This is a very easy tutorial.
Open a New Image, transparent, 16 million Size 75X75. There are only two colors for the Ladybug, but you can use different shade of red or totally different colors if you wish. After all, this is your Ladybug. Set your foreground color to Black #000000 and your background color to Red #C13D2F.
Be sure to save NOW as a pspimage so that if you come back to work on it, it will still have the transparent background.
I will be using a WHITE background for my screen shots so that you will be able to see the pixels better.
Use your Zoom Tool for two clicks (about 1000%). This will make your Ladybug easier to see while you count out the pixels. Below, I have the placement and numbers of the pixels you will use.
Use the Black for the head and antennae and the red for the body.
NOTE: When you do the first set of black spots they will already be filled, since they are only three pixels across and two pixels down.
Now that you have the basic outline, it is time to fill in the colors. You can just pixel in the color one pixel at a time, but I like to get it done all at once. :) I use the Magic Wand and click INSIDE the head area and the Flood Fill with the black.
If you use the Magic Wand for the remaining four spots, hold down the SHIFT key as you click INSIDE each spot. Then, when you Flood Fill one spot, the remaining three spots will fill automatically.
Repeat the above step for the body, using the Red for the Flood Fill.
And that is all there is to the Ladybug. You can now save it as a tube.
I hope you enjoyed making this tiny wonder of Nature.
