My Tube Folder Locations

Not everyone organizes their folders, but it does help when trying to locate one specific tube; be it a rose, a bear, a cat, or a piece of furniture for that one special signature tag you are making. I have 99% of my tubes sorted and put into folders. I have them stored in three main folders, each containing sub folders. Even though I know everyone does things differently, I understand that there might be an easier way to have my folders. But, I organized them so that "I" know where to look for what tube. You might have a completely different way to organize your tubes. But then, when you start to collect over 3000 tubes, that is when you will appreciate the catagorized folders...LOL Yes, there are some of us called Tube-Aholoics out there.

This is not meant to be a "do it this way ONLY" page. I posted this as a "suggestion" page. Something that might help you with your folders. I am not going to go into details stating why you need to do this, or even that you have to do this; this is just how I, myself, do my tube folders. If this helps you in any way, no matter how small, then I will be happy. You do not even have to organize any folders, that will be up to you.

Location addy #1 -
C:/Program Files/Jasc Software Inc/Paint Shop Pro9/Picture tubes
First off, in my main Picture Tube folder (in my PSP proggy), there are four folders containing tubes from Jasc & Corel and My Plants & Leaves.

These I leave there 1) to keep JASC/COREL tubes together and 2) I use my tubes from Plants & Leaves a lot.

Location addy #2 -
C:\Documents and Settings\Kami\My Documents\My PSP Files\Picture Tubes

Since My PSP Files/Picture Tubes are automatically "located" when I open PSP, I try to keep just the main tubes that I would use in this folder. These tubes will show in my Tube Tool when ever I need them.

Location addy #3 -
C:\Documents and Settings\Kami\My Documents\My PSP Files\Tube Storage
This is my "Tube Storage" folder, it has sub folders so that I know "where" I got the tubes from. And each sub folder has sub folders within.

Because I have so many sub folders here, if I need to get a tube, or two, I do the File/Preferences/File Location and search for this folder and ONLY highlight the specific folder(s) that I need. I then just Remove the folder from my Tubes location and POOF!! they are not in my Tube Tools when I use PSP the next time.

Each of the above folders do contain sub folders (the FEB tubes only has 2 tubes, since I just started it). The "Holiday" is self explanitory...*S* I am not much of a holiday person, myself, since the kids are all grown and on their own. The "Dolls" folder contains my doll images (these I will be re-organizing soon). The "Tubes from GA" folder contains folder with the names of the GA member that I get tubes from.

"Tubes from Other Sites" is where I keep sub folders of sites I get tubes from. Since learning about CR & RF images, I did not want to keep these, but am finding out that I "cannot" make my own tubes as lovely as some of these.

You might notice some "catagorized" folders, these I will be moving soon. See, even I do not have everything completly organized.... *S*

I try to keep a notepad .txt file with the URL and TOU in each folder. But, I must admit that some I do not have (as I got the tubes before GA) and need to locate the sites and get this info.

I just realized that I have tubes from winni and other classes that I am taking. These I do not have collected yet, as they are still in my lessons folders. When I get these collected, they will go in the "Tubes from Other Sites" folder, in their own sub folder so that I know where they came from

"Picture Tubes Xtra" folder is where I keep sub folders of tubes that I have made from other tutorials, my own tutorials and from images (such as my flower tubes). The "misc" and "pj tubes" folders contain a mixture of tubes I made recently and just stored them in one folder at a time. These I do need to go thru and put the tubes in the correct folders.

I do apologize for this whole thing being so detailed and extensive, but I wanted you to see how I organized the tubes, even though I know there might be a better way.

If you do decide to organize tubes, fonts, gradients, patterns, images, artwork, etc. here are some questions that you can ask yourself.......

  1. Do I have the main folders located in places where they will do the most good?
  2. Do I have my sub folders named/catagorized correctly?
  3. Should any sub folders be moved to a different "main" folder?
  4. Do I have folders from other sites/friends?
  5. Should I keep them like that or move the individual tubes to the "catagory" sub folders? (Like keeping all flowers together, all bears together, etc.)
  6. Is there an easier way to organize my tube folders than the way I have them now?
  7. Am I driving you crazy with my detailed pages showing you what I am doing? LOL

NOTE: Regarding numbers 4 & 5 above; if you move tubes that others have made, you need to be sure that their name in in the title of the tube. This way you know who to give credit to if ever asked. Example: If I gave out my bear tube, instead of just naming it dancingbear.PspTube, I would have my initials in the title -- dancingbear-pj.PspTube. This way, whom ever I gave that particular tube to would know who they got it from.

So you will need to decide if you want to give each site/person their own folder, or if you want to go through and rename the tubes adding the correct artists name.
