The baron had assembled all his fighters For there was danger in the land The people were in turmoil As a dragon was at hand. The archers were sent on a quest To kill the ferocious dragon that was terrifying the land They set on foot to the dragon's lair In hopes of slaying it while it slept. The winds blew the tale of their coming across the land Thusly the dragon caught wind of their coming And lay silently in wait He would chew some for dinner and crush some into the sand. Arrows flew high; fire and smoke filled the sky As the battle raged on Charred trees and bodies covered the ground More arrows flew, some glancing off the dragon's scales Some missing completely, leaving more archers to die. A few brave warriors crept forth Suddenly, amidst a bevy of arrows, One arrow hit true, straight into the dragon's heart With a mighty bellow, The dragon fell With such force that the earth shuddered and trembled The archers approached the mighty beast with care To see whose arrow would tell a tale. Cheers fill the air The beast was dead For the arrow belonged to the Prince Their Highness's heir. NOTE:My first event Darkwood Archery Tourney July 21, 2001
