I needed a quilting project, so I found an article on the Quilted Cap, Asian Style by Christian de Holacombe. I usually do all my quilting by machine, but this time I did this all by hand.
Even though I followed her directions closely, it still came out slightly larger than I expected. Even after three washing in HOT water, it shrank very little.
I used lightweight brown linen for the outside material, lightweight creme colored linen for the lining (this was left over linen I used for my Viking undersdresses) and a lightweight cotton batting. I used a coppery colored Eterna silk (#630 S) for the sewing. I even hand-stitched all the seams and used the fancy seam directions in the article. It took me two months to complete this and I finished it in mid-January 2007.
