Sorcha's Scrolls

I am Lady Sorcha Fhionn inghean ui/Ruairc and I live in the Golden Rivers area of the Principality of Cynaqua (moved from the Barony of Darkwood in 2007) in the Kingdom of the West. I have been active in the Society for five years and M'Lord/husband has been active since 1998. I have been involved with the Needle Guild since 2001 and am the Holda of the Spinning Guild since 2004. Even though I have been interested in Illumination since 2004, I just got involved with Illumination since March 2006.

I started out painting blank templates to help with the backlog list. Now I am working on backlog scrolls, and will pick one or two at a time to work on. I do not know why, but I am partial to the Viking/Celtic style of illumination. Although, now I am trying different styles and techniques to expand my Illuminate knowledge. I enjoy seeing my own progress from piece to piece, and making notes for areas I feel that I still need to make improvements on.

Some of these blanks are from the Visconti Hours, some are from The Book of Kells, and some are ideas that I got from seeing other Illumination works on-line. I used Winsor & Newton Gouche on pergamanata.

4th Assignment

Jarvis of Hakesleah -- AOA Rowan of Hakesleah -- AOA

This was for a husband and wife, who wanted matching Celtic scrolls. I made these with matching Celtic intertwined dogs, but used each ones main arms color for the dominate color scheme.
